Chris J. Roy, Jr. is an accident and injury lawyer in Alexandria, Louisiana, who specializes in car accidents, medical malpractice, and nursing home negligence. He is also a board member of United Way of Central Louisiana. He fights for victims of negligence to make sure that their rights are protected and that they receive fair compensation for their injuries. Chris has represented hundreds of families whose loved ones were injured or harmed as a result of medical negligence.

Chris, a third-generation attorney and lifelong Central Louisiana resident, was taught that a competent lawyer possesses the ability to change people’s lives for the better. He understands this community and will personally work with you, unlike the television advertisers who aren’t from our community and who will pass you off to a paralegal.

Chris graduated with honors from Louisiana State University in 1984 with a degree in political science. Thereafter, he graduated in 1987 with honors from Southern University Law Center. He was elected as a member of the Southern University Law Center Hall of Fame in 2007. Following law school, he worked as a Ninth Judicial District Court law clerk under Judge Robert Jackson. He then practiced law for several years with his father, Chris J. Roy, Sr., until founding his own law firm, Chris J. Roy, Jr. Law Corporation in 1990.

In 2008, Chris was elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives, serving the 25th District. He served on the Insurance, Commerce, and Agriculture Committees. While a member of the legislature, Chris was named Legislator of the Year for the Louisiana Orthopedic Society in 2010. He fought for the protection of the elderly from abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation. He was instrumental in passing laws to protect mentally disabled children. While in the House of Representatives, Chris also fought for victims of crime and consumers as a member of the House Commerce Committee. As a member of the House Insurance and Commerce committees, he fought for consumer rights against big insurance companies on all health insurance issues and insurance bad faith laws. He chose not to run for re-election in 2011 to spend more time with his family.

Professionally, he is a member of the Alexandria and Louisiana State Bar Associations. Chris is also a member of the American Association of Justice, the Louisiana Association of Justice, and the American Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Louisiana and the United States Supreme Court. In August 2022, he was admitted to the Colorado Bar, allowing him to practice in Colorado.

Personally, Chris has served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Rapides Parish Children’s Advocacy Center and CASA. He also served on the Board of Directors of the March of Dimes and has sponsored “citizen law schools” in the past for the Louisiana Association of Justice.

Chris is originally from Marksville, Louisiana, and moved to Alexandria with his family, where his father practiced law. He has been married to Lelia Hopewell Roy for 35 years. They are the proud parents of three children, Madeleine Clark Roy Salzer, an attorney in New Orleans; Christopher J. Roy, III, an attorney in New Orleans; and John Roy, a third-year Louisiana State University Law Center student.
